DVSA conducted 263,516 car theory tests across 13 centres in the Yorkshire and The Humber in the year to March 2026, and 112,969 of them ended in a pass. That is a rate of 42.87%, which puts the Yorkshire and The Humber 11th of the 11 regions and countries used in this directory, 1.97 points below the national 44.84%.
The theory test fee is £23 everywhere in Great Britain, so the regional difference is not a price difference. It is a count of attempts. At 42.87% a pass in the Yorkshire and The Humber takes 2.33 sittings on average and therefore £53.65 in fees, £2.36 more than the national figure. The 150,547 failed tests in the region account for £3.5m of the £6.1m paid in theory fees here.
